New Gallagher Customer Service Centre Opens

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - May 12, 2016) - Gallagher is demonstrating its continued commitment to the Australian market with the official opening of their new regional headquarters in Melbourne today.

The new Customer Service Centre will house Gallagher's customer service, distribution, sales management, marketing, administration, technical support, and warehouse operation teams, servicing Australia wide.

General Manager Malcolm Linn said, "The new building doubles our capacity, so both its size and location improve our logistical capabilities. It also provides new opportunities in training, as well as customer and technical support."

The space will be occupied by staff from all three of Gallagher's business units -- animal management, security, and fuel systems.

The new Gallagher Customer Service Centre is accessible to the Hume Freeway while offering the added benefit of being located less than 20 km from the Melbourne International Airport.

Gallagher began operating in Australia in the late 1960s and since then they have continued to make strategic investments in this market.

AXIS P1244 Network Camera offers a cost-effective solution for indoor applications that require exceptionally discreet surveillance. Modular concept

The modular concept divides a camera into different parts: a sensor unit comprising a lens and an image sensor, a main unit that houses the processor, network and power connections, and a cable that connects the sensor unit to the main unit. The modular concept allows for the discreet installation of a small sensor unit where needed while the main unit can be placed elsewhere where there is space.

Compact design

AXIS P1244 comprises a sensor unit with a 102° horizontal field of view. It can be mounted in tight places, or in walls or ceilings with the included flush mount kit. Optional accessories enable the sensor unit to be tilted in a surface or recessed mount. The sensor unit comes with an 8-m (26 feet) cable for connection to the main unit. The main unit of AXIS P1244 is three times smaller than previous AXIS P12 main units.

High-performance

AXIS P1244 supports full frame rate HDTV 720p videos, Zipstream technology for lower bandwidth and storage use, Power over Ethernet (PoE) for easy installation, and a microSD card slot for local storage. It has built-in Active Tampering Alarm and Video Motion Detection, and has a greater capacity to support additional video analytics that are compatible with AXIS Camera Application Platform.

Axis’ sustainability report shows progress during an eventful 2015

Axis Communications today presents its sustainability report for 2015. The report describes progress in a number of fields, such as a strengthened position with regards to anti-corruption and a decreased use of environmentally-threatening materials in the company’s product portfolio of cameras and encoders. The sustainability report was prepared according to the G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines.

Sustainability Highlights from 2015

Axis advanced its position with regard to countering corruption and bribery. The zero tolerance policy against corruption covers employees, the board of directors, suppliers, distributors and partners.

The company furthered a commitment to reducing carbon emissions generated by business trips with new stricter guidelines for business travel. This carbon offset is carried out in conjunction with a Plan Vivo project contributing to environmental and social improvements.

A Green Design Evaluation Form was introduced in the product development processes in all projects with the aim of integrating even stronger environmental considerations into product development - without compromising product quality and functionality requirements.
A green lease was signed with one of Axis’ property owners in Lund, outlining ways that Axis and the property owner shall work actively together to reduce the environmental burden on the premises and property.
Axis has the goal to phase out PVC from its products and at the end of 2015, about 70 percent of all network cameras and encoders were PVC-free.
The supplier auditing processes were improved further. Stricter requirements and collaboration with Axis has meant that many suppliers have improved their sustainability work.
To further improve the working environment, Axis implemented measures such as: creating a new rehabilitation process for employees in Sweden aimed at getting persons who are ill back to work faster; implementing preventive health and safety programs company-wide(?), and improving security at workplaces in several different countries.
A number of initiatives were implemented in order to promote greater equality and diversity, including a gender analysis study and a salary survey in Sweden.

Axis’ Zipstream compression technology now automatically adapts to PTZ camera movements

Axis’ Zipstream compression technology has been developed specifically for video surveillance and lowers bandwidth and storage requirements by an average of 50% or more without sacrificing important details. It is fully compatible with the widely adopted H.264 compression standard and leading video management systems (VMS). The new release has been optimized for use with pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) cameras.

Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, today introduced a new release of Axis’ Zipstream compression technology that now automatically adapts to PTZ camera movements. Storage and bandwidth consumption is reduced even while operators pan, tilt or zoom a camera.

“Axis’ Zipstream technology has been a huge market success since its introduction a year ago. It has received several industry awards confirming it is a true game changer,” says Johan Paulsson, Chief Technology Officer, Axis Communications. “The latest release is able to adapt to PTZ camera movements in real-time, offering further storage and bandwidth savings and making bitrate peaks a thing of the past.”

The best video surveillance evidence is of no value if the system was configured to automatically overwrite the footage before it was needed. Also, it makes little sense to invest in high quality cameras when reducing the video bit rate, resolution or frame rate to a level where important details are no longer captured and footage does not provide clear evidence anymore.

Most IP-based video surveillance systems today are based on the H.264 video compression standard lowering bandwidth and storage requirements. Fully compatible with existing H.264 network infrastructure and video management software, Axis’ Zipstream is a significantly more efficient H.264 implementation, lowering bandwidth and storage requirements by an average 50% or more. This is achieved by adding a new module inside the video compression engine of a network camera that ensures important details in the image get enough attention in the video stream while unnecessary data can be removed.

Axis’ Zipstream technology analyzes and optimizes the network camera’s video stream in real-time. Scenes containing interesting details are recorded in full image quality and resolution while other areas are filtered out to optimally use available bandwidth and storage. Important forensic details like faces, tattoos or license plates are isolated and preserved, while irrelevant areas such as white walls, lawns and vegetation are sacrificed by smoothing in order to achieve better storage savings.

PTZ camera movements can cause bandwidth peaks resulting in frames being skipped, both in live operator viewing as well as in recordings. Axis’ Zipstream compression technology is now able to adapt to these camera movements. Bandwidth peaks can be avoided thanks to a new dynamic rate controller that is automatically enabled when the camera is being panned, tilted or zoomed.

AXIS P3707-PE and AXIS Q3708-PVE Network Cameras are cost-effective multisensor panoramic cameras for the video surveillance of large areas, both indoors as well as outdoors.

Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, today introduces two multisensor panoramic cameras. The 8-megapixel AXIS P3707-PE, with four varifocal camera heads, enables a 360° coverage or a combination of overview and zoomed-in views in four different directions. The 15-megapixel AXIS Q3708-PVE features three image sensors for a 180° surveillance and technologies for handling challenging lighting conditions.

The cameras are ideally suited for video surveillance in airport terminals, railway and metro stations, city surveillance installations such as monitoring public squares, perimeter security for critical infrastructure and industrial sites, video surveillance of university campuses and school halls, or shopping mall security both indoors and outdoors, including parking lots.

AXIS P3707-PE comprises four camera heads that can be repositioned along a circular track to point in the desired viewing direction. Each camera head can be individually tilted and adjusted to provide a 108° to 54° horizontal field of view for either wide or zoomed-in views. The camera heads can be rotated to support Axis’ Corridor Format for optimal coverage of vertically oriented scenes. A specially designed clear cover, with no sharp edges, allows for undistorted views in all directions. AXIS P3707-PE supports individually configurable video streams for each camera head, as well as quad-view streaming, enabling 1080p resolution videos at 12.5/15 frames per second and 720p videos at full frame rate.

AXIS Q3708-PVE offers easy and cost-efficient installation. The camera’s three lenses are factory-focused, so no focusing is required on site. It has Wide Dynamic Range - Forensic Capture technology and low light capabilities for excellent image quality in all lighting conditions. AXIS Q3708-PVE provides 11-megapixel resolution (3x QuadHD) at 30 frames per second, or 15-megapixel resolution (3x 5 MP) at 20 frames per second.

Both AXIS P3707-PE and AXIS Q3708-PVE are accessible through a single IP address. This means only one video management software license is needed with many video management systems (VMS). Both cameras also support Power over Ethernet and Axis’ Zipstream technology for reduced bandwidth and storage requirements.

AXIS P3707-PE and AXIS Q3708-PVE are expected to be available through Axis’ distribution channels in Q2, 2016 at the suggested retail price of USD 1,199 and USD 1,999, respectively.

The user interface of AXIS Camera Station has been designed for ease of use. AXIS Camera Station 5 introduces support for hardware decoding and Axis Optimized Rendering. The new 'Scrubbing' function allows users to quickly search through video footage from multiple cameras at the same time.

A free mobile viewing app available for Android- and iOS-based mobile devices allows users to view live video from cameras as well as recorded video footage.

AXIS Camera Station 5 allows users to take full advantage of Axis’ wide range of video surveillance cameras and technologies. It supports 360º overview recording, H.264 compression, multi-view streaming, Axis’ Corridor Format, Axis’ Zipstream technology and advanced camera-based video motion detection. Additional functionality can easily be added with ACAP applications.

Other security and video surveillance solutions from Axis such as door stations for easy identification and remote entry control or horn speakers for remote speaking in video surveillance applications can be used with AXIS Camera Station 5 as well. To meet specific needs, the new version also supports integration of third party IP cameras.
